Sometimes I Just Can’t Stay Consistent
Life happens, right? But there’s always a cost to that.
As someone who creates constantly—whether it’s writing, filming, or editing—I’m always juggling ideas, consuming content, and learning
Like you, I also live a life beyond work. I sleep, eat, work out, hang out with friends and family, clean, and do all the regular stuff.
Somedays are just blah…And honestly, there's often a cost to those unproductive days. To be completely honest with you, I didn’t know what mind-blowing topic to focus on today and I was drinking my morning coffee and asking my brain why it wasn’t cooperating.

Now, let’s dive in!
These next few months, my focus is on consistency. And let’s be real, sometimes consistency feels like heavy pressure, like a deadline breathing down your neck. Creativity doesn’t always show up on demand—it’s more like the rain, arriving when it pleases.
But today, my motivation today is you. So many of you have shared how much you enjoy my newsletters, and I know you take the time to read them twice a week. That means the world to me, and today, that’s why I’m showing up.
Here’s what I am figuring out step-by-step.
It’s super easy to be inconsistent when you know no one is watching. You are not accountable, who is going to know?
But, It’s so scary to do something when even 1 person is watching you.
That’s the key. My key to consistency is finding that one person.
Didn’t look too hard.
That one person I found was me, myself and I.
I used to be a calendar-blocking person. I forgot anything that was not on my calendar. This past year, I turned off the notifications, and guess what? I forgot that I was forgetting to do the things that mattered.
Recently, I had my first guest on The Pivot to Balance Podcast, and she reminded me how effective calendar blocking is for consistency. I remembered—that’s exactly what I used to do. I wasn’t consistent because I was superhuman—I was consistent because I knew I had things to do. Imagine if I was telling myself, “I know I have to be in this meeting, but let me just watch one more episode of Emily in Paris” That would never fly!
The goal isn’t just accountability—it’s about the version of yourself watching. Are you respecting your own time? Are you losing respect for not doing what you promised yourself?
That’s how I got myself to sit down and write today. And that’s how I’m going to get myself to do laundry now.
It’s all tied together— Accountability & Self-Respect.
Happy Sunday and here’s to a productive and balanced week ahead!
Until Thursday,
Anusha Kannan

Quote of the week: The goal is not to just hold yourself accountable but just this version of yourself—watching you, and losing respect for yourself for not doing what you said you were going to do.
