How Emotions Shape the Choices We Make
Emotions aren’t the problem: they’re the clue💁♀️

🎯 How Emotions Shape Our Choices
Let’s be honest…how often do we let emotions drive our decisions?
You know those moments…
Saying “yes” to one more thing even though you’re already overwhelmed.
Overthinking an email for 30 minutes.
Regretting a choice because, let’s face it, your emotions were doing the talking.
It happens to all of us. But what we mostly miss is, these emotions are clues/ hints
When we tune into them, emotions can show us what’s what instead of running the show :).
Here’s what I’ve learned:
1️⃣ Take a Pause
Have you ever felt like you had to reply right away? That urgency? That’s usually emotions speaking. A quick pause…breathing, grabbing a coffee/tea, and walking away can help you respond instead of reacting.
2️⃣ Ask Yourself the Hard Question
Is this choice about what’s right for me or about avoiding guilt, fear, or judgment? Answer honestly.
3️⃣ Check Your HALT
Hungry. Angry. Lonely. Tired. If you’re feeling any of these, hold off on big decisions. These states mess with our clarity big time!
4️⃣ Play the Long Game
Ask yourself: “What would the future me think about this choice?” Sometimes stepping back helps you see the bigger picture.
5️⃣ Forgive Yourself for the Past
We all have those “ugh, why did I do that?” moments. But every decision, good or bad, brought you here. And here? That’s progress 🙂
Emotions don’t have to control your decision-making. Pause, reflect, and ask the right questions. You’ll make better choices and feel good about them.
